YouTube’s push into podcasts started in 2021, but we haven’t seen anything come of it until now. The company appointed then 10-year-veteran Kai Chuk to spearhead the project.
YouTube rolls out a podcasts page
Right now, it looks like we’re just scratching the iceberg on this new stage for YouTube. Back in July, according to 9To5Google, the company started rolling out a new page at youtube.com/podcasts. However, the page wouldn’t show up for most of the people who navigated to it. Now, it’s available for more people to view. As you’d expect, this is a page dedicated to curating podcasts for you to view and explore. Uptop, you’ll see lists of popular podcasts and popular episodes along with other recommendations. If you want to refine your search, you’ll be able to scroll down through a few genres. Right now, there are genres such as comedy, true crime, music, sports, and TV& film. There’s also a row in the middle that shows popular channels with podcasts that you can subscribe to. The page is a one-stop shop for you to find interesting podcasts. The page should be live for most people, but it might depend on your region. If you get an “error 404” game, then you’ll want to wait a bit for it to hit your region.
Even though this is a step in the right direction, we’re not sure what else the company is going to come up with. For all we know, this YouTube podcast page could be the beginning of something major for the company. While Spotify is popular in the audio podcasts market, YouTube is still a go-to platform for video podcasts. we’ll have to wait and see what YouTube comes up with next.
