Not all of the games, but some, and likely a small group at first. The Oklahoma City Thunder vs Cleveland Cavaliers game on January 22 is one that will be available in 4K. Of course, you will need that 4K Plus add-on which costs you $19.99 per month. However, you can get the first year for $9.99 per month.
What else is available in 4K?
The amount of 4K content on YouTube TV is still quite small, but it has grown considerably in the past few months. YouTube TV now has 4K content on seven channels – Discovery, ESPN, NBC Sports, FX, Fox Sports, National Geographic, and Tastemade. Basically, Disney and one Discovery channel. It’s a start though. Don’t forget that the 4K Plus add-on also offers unlimited simultaneous streams, and the ability to download recorded content for offline viewing. Which can be a very useful feature for those that need some content to watch on their flight, or somewhere else that there won’t be any internet available. Unfortunately, this likely means that only nationally broadcast NBA games will be available in 4K. As really the only channels with it available is ESPN and Fox Sports. And of course, Fox Sports does not show any NBA games – it focuses more on college basketball. However, since there are very few regional sports networks available on YouTube TV, since Sinclair yanked away the regional Bally Sports networks in October of 2020. But it is a step in the right direction, for the few NBA games that are available on YouTube TV right now. It’ll be interesting to see how this 4K content continues to expand over the coming months.
