Back when Battlefield 2042 was announced EA was very clear that the game would not feature a solo-play campaign mode. Or any campaign mode at all for that matter. It did however confirm that there would be a story within the game to follow. One with a rather deep and interesting narrative. EA plans to use this narrative to help drive the game along throughout its lifespan. Stating that it wants people to play Battlefield 2042 for years to come. Naturally, keeping people invested by way of unfolding plot points to help build the world is a good way to do that. And it all has to start somewhere. That somewhere is with Exodus.
Battlefield 2042 short film introduces us to a new specialist
Up until now EA has only revealed four of the game’s many specialists. But the release of the short film introduces us to one more. Kimble ‘Irish’ Graves. Or, Irish for short. Irish is an engineer with the Veteran trait, whose specialty is called Fortification System. With this specialty, Irish is able to insert two useful items on the battlefield. One is the DCS Deployable Cover and the other is the APS-36 Shootdown Sentinel. While both of those are likely to be huge assets for any team, it might be Irish’s Veteran trait that makes him more menacing, if in the right hands. With Veteran, Irish can “dig in and stay alive,” with the ability to always spawn in with a small amount of body armor. That body armor can also be replenished as long as he picks up any ammo packs that were left behind by enemies he has personally taken down. EA will be holding an open beta for Battlefield 2042 sometime in the near future, prior to the game’s official release on October 22. You can guarantee a spot in the beta by pre-ordering the game.
