The 3rd Android 12L beta is rolling out
Shortly after we heard about Android 12L, we found out that there was a developer preview being launched exclusively on the Lenovo P12 Pro tablet. Over the past couple of months, we’ve gotten beta versions that launched on the P12 Pro and Pixel phones. The 2nd beta launched not too long ago, and now, we have the 3rd and final beta currently rolling out. Those using their Pixel phones aren’t really seeing any differences in the software’s appearance; for that, you need the P12 Pro. On that tablet, we’re seeing changes like the revamped notification shade, the changed multitasking view, the faster access to your wallpaper, the app dock, etc. These all make the interface more friendly to the larger screen devices. Plainly put, Android 12L is Google’s answer to iPad OS. There’s not much that changed overall with this new beta. The “No Notification” text in the notification shade has been centered. When you select the split-screen option, half of the icon will be filled in to show you where that window will be pinned. Also, on the split-screen mode, each screen’s corners will be rounded to match the corners of the device you’re using. Developers are encouraged to start their last round of compatibility tests and start wrapping things up. After this beta, there’s the final release.
The Pixel 6 can now be on the beta program
Pixel devices could be a part of the Android beta program but not the newest ones. This comes as a surprise to most people. However, with the launch of the 3rd Android 12L beta, Google added The Pixel 6 phones to the beta list. Users will only need to go to the Android beta page and click “opt-in” when they see their device. After that, they’ll receive a system update. If you are planning on getting the update, just know that you’re doing so at your own risk. You will be using an unstable version of the software which can lead to problems. You will experience bugs, crashes, and just general jankiness with the software at some points. What’s fortunate is that the 3rd Android 12 beta is more stable than the prior betas.
