Reports earlier this year said that Samsung canceled the Galaxy S22 FE due to the chip shortage problem. The company seemingly planned to ship the phone with the Exynos 2200 or the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, the SoC that powers the regular Galaxy S22 lineup. But it couldn’t procure enough of those chips, leading to the device being canceled altogether. It appears Samsung has now decided to launch the Galaxy S22 FE with its latest in-house processor, the Exynos 2300. Since the Galaxy S23 lineup will be using the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 globally, the Korean firm shouldn’t have any shortage of the latest flagship Exynos processor. Perhaps it has enough stock to even launch a Galaxy Tab S8 FE with the same chipset. Unfortunately, this is the very beginning of Galaxy S22 FE rumors. There’s hardly anything else to tell. Well, tipster @RGcloudS says the device will feature a 108MP primary rear camera. But that’s about it. We don’t have any other info about the phone’s specs. Samsung seemingly plans to position the Galaxy S22 FE between the Galaxy A54 5G and the base Galaxy S22 model. It has reportedly canceled the Galaxy A74, so there’s a pretty big gap between these two. The Galaxy A7x lineup has been already priced close to the FE series, so it isn’t surprising to see Samsung scrap that and fill the gap with a new similarly-priced flagship model. The Galaxy A series will always have the mid-range tag no matter how high-end specs it packs. An aggressively-priced Galaxy S22 FE and a discounted Galaxy S22 will be more attractive propositions all day long.
The Galaxy S22 FE may arrive in the first half of 2023
Samsung launched the Galaxy S21 FE in January this year, over a month before the Galaxy S22 series arrived. But the 2023 FE model will arrive a little late next year. Rumors are that the company will host a mini Galaxy Unpacked event (part 2) for the Galaxy S22 FE after the Galaxy S23 launch in early February. The Galaxy Tab S8 FE may accompany the device. A second Galaxy Unpacked event in Q3 2023 will reportedly bring the Galaxy Tab S9 series. Of course, we are expecting new foldables too. Meanwhile, there are hints that we we will see Samsung launch the Galaxy Buds 2 Live alongside the new FE devices in the first half of 2023. That’s according to tipster @OreXda, who has also confirmed the existence of the Galaxy S22 FE. The claim has been backed by well-known tipster @dohyun854 as well. Both of these sources say the Galaxy S23 FE doesn’t exist. But there’s still a long way to go. Samsung could change plans anytime. We will keep you posted.
