He did note that he was able to get his number back after 5 days of trying, but that it caused considerable problems for him. That is completely understandable, as many of you would probably be lost without your phone number, for a number of reasons.
Users allegedly lost StraightTalk phone numbers, quite a few of them
Mr. Holden says that the StraightTalk support tech told him that “lots of people are affected and we are working hard to correct it”. So, it seems like Mr. Holden’s case is far from being isolated. He says that he issued some direct questions to StraightTalk tech support, but that he didn’t get proper answers to those questions. All he received were scripted responses from different people. Needless to say, if true, this is a huge issue. Many people rely on their phone numbers for business purposes, not to say that we need them for two-factor authentication, and a lot more than that. This would be a major issue if it happened to a couple of people, let alone a bunch of them, which seems to be the case here, at least according to the provided information.
The company seems to be handling the situation
StraightTalk seems to be handling the situation, based on the feedback Mr. Holden received, so let’s hope that everyone will get their phone number back at the earliest. It is difficult to emphasize how important digital security is, and losing your phone number like this is a major problem. StraightTalk didn’t really share any official information about this just yet, at least not to our knowledge. If it shares some information with us, we’ll make sure to update this article. Let’s hope the company will offer an explanation.
