The Android 13-based One UI 5.0 update for the Galaxy XCover Pro in the US comes with firmware version G715U1UEUFDVKA. The phone is only available unlocked stateside and the rollout has already covered units on most networks. The remaining few should also join the party. Users in Canada are also widely getting this update with firmware version G715WVLUAEVK9. Samsung is seeding the December security patch in both markets. The latest SMR (Security Maintenance Release) patches 80 vulnerabilities. Of course, this update is more about Android 13 and One UI 5.0 than the security patch. The latest iterations of Google’s and Samsung’s software contain plenty of goodies for the users of this rugged Galaxy smartphone. We have improved system animations and transitions, new customization options, and other aesthetic overhauls. There are also a host of new features across all major stock apps and services, including the camera. In other words, this update will add a lot to the Galaxy XCover Pro. Unfortunately, it’s been nearly three years since that device arrived on the market. Samsung launched it in January 2020 running Android 10 out of the box. That means Android 13 is the last major upgrade for the phone. It will not get Android 14. Security updates will come at least until January 2024, though not as frequently as before.
The Galaxy XCover Pro is getting the December SMR in international markets
As said earlier, Samsung has already released the Android 13 update for the Galaxy XCover Pro in international markets. That release came with the November security patch earlier this month. The company has now begun rolling out the December SMR to the phone. The update is available in a host of European and Asian countries with firmware version G715FNXXSAEVL2. The rollout should soon reach users in the remaining markets, such as Africa and Australia. If you’re using the Samsung Galaxy XCover Pro, a new update should soon be available to you unless you have already installed it. For some, it will bring Android 13, while others will only get the latest security patch. You can check for updates from the Settings app. Go to the Software update menu and tap on Download and install. If you don’t see any updates, wait a few days and check again. You may also get a notification for this release.
