The OnePlus 10 may not launch alongside its ‘Pro’ sibling
He says that he “sees” only one product in the OnePlus 10 series, for now. Hinting that the OnePlus 10 Pro is the only phone that is coming in the near future. OnePlus’ CEO, Pete Lau, confirmed earlier today that the OnePlus 10 Pro will launch in January. He did confirm that via his Weibo account, so it’s possible that the phone will launch in China only, for now. This would go hand-in-hand with the information provided by Max Jambor a while back. He suggested that the Chinese variant will launch in January or February, while the global model will follow in March or April. This is a rather odd approach by OnePlus, and it may hurt the company’s brand image. OnePlus managed to present itself as a global company thus far, as it focused on a global launch of its products first. This would change things.
The two phones may launch together globally, though
In fact, considering that the OnePlus 10 hasn’t been mentioned yet, it’s possible only the OnePlus 10 Pro will launch in January, in China, and the OnePlus 10 will launch alongside it, but in March or April, when the global launch comes knocking. We’re only guessing, of course, as we cannot be sure. This sure is an odd situation for OnePlus and its products, and a mysterious one as well. At least we know exactly what to expect out of the ‘Pro’ model. The device will be made out of metal and glass, and will have a curved display, with a display camera hole. Hasselblad partnership is still on, while the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC will fuel the device. That part has been confirmed already.
