Huawei may launch its next-gen foldable smartphone in February next year
This device will presumably be called the Huawei Mate X3, and it’s supposed to succeed the Mate X2. The Huawei Mate X2 was inspired by the Galaxy Z Fold series, and the Mate X3 will likely use the same design philosophy. The device will likely open and close like a book, and include two displays. Speaking of displays, Huawei is allegedly testing an OLED display for that phone as we speak, and the same goes for an in-display fingerprint scanner. The device is expected to come with POL-LESS LED technology provided by Samsung Display. That tech should offer 20-30-percent higher brightness. Huawei’s third-gen foldable handset will be a high-end offering, just like its predecessors. Not much is known about this phone, though. We don’t know if Huawei will opt for the Kirin 9000 SoC, or perhaps use a chip from Qualcomm.
The Huawei Mate 50 series is tipped to arrive in Q1 as well
Based on the rumors, the Huawei Mate 50 series may arrive around the same time. So, Huawei may announce all those phones at the same time, we’ll see. The company is also working on a clamshell foldable, if previous rumors are to be believed. It wants to release a competitor for the Galaxy Z Flip 3, it seems. That device is referred to as the Mate V, for now. It is worth noting that the Huawei P50 flagships did not make it to the global market just yet. Huawei may not release them at all, and focus its attention on the Mate 50 series, and its new foldables. Those will hopefully launch outside of China. It remains to be seen, though, the US ban hit Huawei hard, and it’s preventing the company from doing things in a normal fashion, everything requires a lot more effort.
