If you have a Google Assistant-powered device, you have one of the (if not the) most powerful voice assistants out there. You’d want that device to be able to access the assistant and carry out the command. However, it seems that the Assistant can’t understand basic commands for some reason.
Some Google Assistant devices are having trouble understanding commands
There are a ton of devices out there that can access Google Assistant, and they prove to be really useful tools. We have a host of smart speakers and smartphones that can search up pretty much anything with a simple “Hey Google” command. However, what if that command doesn’t bring any results? Over the past two days, there have been countless reports of Google Assistant-powered devices not understanding even the most basic commands. According to 9to5Google, people have been heading to Reddit, Google support forums, and the Nest community forums to report this issue. This issue seems to be affecting the devices regardless of what type of device it is. We have users reporting this issue with both smart speakers and smartphones. This means that it’s a problem rooted in the Assistant itself. As reported by Kellen from Droid-Life, the assistant won’t work from some devices, but it would for others. He said that it wouldn’t work for his Philips Hue lights or his Eufy cameras. However, the Assistant worked just fine on his Nest camera.
Apparently, the Assistant does understand what’s being said
When Google Assistant doesn’t understand you, it’s either because you didn’t enunciate your words, or you gave a command that it just can’t do. However, the users are reporting that the Assistant is actually displaying the command on the screen in plain text. This means that it does understand what you’re saying, but for some reason, it just can’t execute the command. This points to an internal issue with the Google Assistant. The Assistant sends the data to Google’s servers and, for some reason, it can’t be processed. That confuses a lot of people, but the issue may lie in the Google Assistant back end. Google hasn’t made any statements about the issue just yet, but we should hopefully hear something. This issue doesn’t affect all users, however. I managed to get the Google Assistant to work on my Pixel 5, my LG Velvet, and my LG Stylo 6. I used it both for an online search and to perform a local task. When Google finds out about this, the company will most likely take quick action to solve it.
