Right now, there aren’t too many details available to the public. This could mean that the companies are keeping this under wraps or it’s just too early in the developmental stage. Whatever the case, there are a few details that the company gave us.
This Lego and Epic Games metaverse has principles that it will follow
Creating an online community that’s safe for kids is difficult in this day and age. So, in order to ensure that this metaverse is safe for kids, the companies have some principles that they will follow. The companies will “Protect children’s right to play by making safety and wellbeing a priority, Safeguard children’s privacy by putting their best interests first, and Empower children and adults with tools that give them control over their digital experience.” These seem solid and necessary to make a safe environment for kids. The only one that doesn’t really make sense is the second one. It’s weird how putting kids’ interests forward will protect their privacy. That’s something to pay attention to because privacy is one of the BIGGEST concerns when it comes to this metaverse. No parent (or any adult with a moral compass) wants children to be in an environment where they can be tracked. That’s probably more important than making sure that they don’t see foul language or ads.
Details are scarce
Right now, we don’t have much information to go off of. There’s no timeline at all, so we don’t know when to expect it. Also, we don’t know what platforms this is going to be available for. Since we’re talking about a metaverse, we can’t rule out the possibility of VR headsets. Right now, all we have to do is wait for more details to come out.
