A tipster just revealed regional chipset configuration for the Galaxy S22 series
Dohyun Kim went to Twitter to share the news. Let’s start with Europe and North America. As was the case in the last couple of years, Europe will get the Exynos 2200 variant, while North American models will ship with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. Both South America and East Asia will receive Snapdragon variants. The same goes for South East Asia/Oceania. When it comes to West Asia, Middle East Asia and Africa, well, it seems like both chips will be used. Now, it is not exactly a secret that Exynos flagships lagged behind their Snapdragon counterparts in the past. That was noticeable with the Galaxy S21 series, for example, as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 was cooler and performed better, while the camera images were also different.
Let’s hope the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 & Exynos 2200 will be on par
Let’s hope that Samsung figured things out with the Exynos 2200. Let’s hope that the AMD partnership will be fruitful, and that the Exynos 2200 will be on par with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, at the very least. The Exynos 2200 launched quite recently, actually, and it does look great on paper. Both of these chips will likely perform really well, though, but we’re hoping that they’ll offer a similar performance. It’s never ideal when you sell the same product in different markets, but with different internals. That especially goes if the difference is the SoC, which is one of the most important internals in any phone. That is what Samsung has been doing for a long time, though, and it works for the company. Samsung is not the number 1 smartphone OEM in the world for no reason, of course. For those of you who are wondering, the Galaxy S22 series will launch next month, likely on February 9.
