The leak comes from the well-known source, Ice Universe, on Twitter (via). Screen protectors are usually available ahead of time and generally leak out prior to a phone’s release. Going by this revelation, the Galaxy S22 lineup could be slightly wider compared to its predecessor. We’ve previously encountered dummy units of the standard Galaxy S22 and the Ultra variants as well. However, this newer leak gives us a better view of the screen bezels, also revealing that the edges could be slightly rounded with the new lineup.
Samsung has marginally delayed the release of the Galaxy S22 lineup
Elsewhere, the bezels appear to be minimal, which is good news for fans. Naturally, screen protectors don’t offer a complete picture of the phone’s final design. But given that it’s still early days for the Samsung flagship, we’ll take whatever we can get.
If recent reports are true, Samsung may have pushed back the release of the Galaxy S22 to accommodate the long-delayed Galaxy S21 FE. It is likely that the Galaxy S22 series will make its debut in February, while the company will likely unveil the Galaxy S21 FE on January 11, 2022. Samsung was forced to delay the FE variant of the Galaxy S21 due to the global chip shortage throughout 2021. However, the company is finally closing in on its release in less than three months from now. As for the Galaxy S22, it will bring a bunch of new changes, particularly in terms of processing power. Samsung’s Exynos 2200 chipset is generating quite the buzz already, thanks to the integrated AMD RDNA2 GPU. However, the Galaxy S22 variants sold in the U.S. and China will likely use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 898 SoC. We’ve also learned that the Galaxy S22 series will use a punch-hole selfie camera, and not an under-display sensor as some rumors previously predicted. In terms of battery capacities, the Galaxy S22 Ultra will likely retain the 5,000 mAh unit from its predecessor. Rumors suggest that the Galaxy S22 and the Galaxy S22 Plus will feature smaller batteries.
