It never once shows an actual product. That’s why it can’t be said for certain that this upcoming product is a laptop. But the teaser does point in that direction. Here’s a quick breakdown. First, you see blades of grass being flattened as something absolutely monstrous descends from the sky. This is followed by a short message that says, “when something big and powerful arrives, it leaves a mark.” People in the park take notice and gaze up at its larger-than-life scale. As it gets close to the ground, its shadow proceeds to cover everything in sight. Then you get a brief glimpse at the unidentified object hovering in the sky. You only see a smidge of what looks like the underside of a laptop. Finally it cuts to a shot of the grass again. And there you see a “crop circle” of the number 18. Shaped using the same font that Alienware puts on the back of its laptop lids and monitors.
Alienware will likely announce an 18-inch gaming laptop at CES
Since Alienware doesn’t confirm what the product is with the teaser, the most likely time for the company to unveil it is at CES. The upcoming trade show happening in early January. That’s just a little over a month away now, so it won’t be long before consumers get to see, whatever this is. Should it be an 18-inch gaming laptop, there are a few things to consider. It would be a huge laptop. Not quite as big as Acer’s Predator 21X that came out in 2017. But an 18-inch laptop from Alienware would be a big gaming laptop nonetheless. Currently the largest laptop Alienware makes is a 17-inch. Because it would be big, it would undoubtedly be heavy as well. But, the larger size also leaves the possibility of it having more room for components. A desktop GPU perhaps? Surely more ports. And of course there’s the question of whether it would be part of the M series or X series. There’s a lot of unknowns. But if you’re an Alienware fan, the mystique is part of the excitement.
